HOW DIGITAL TOOLS TRANSFORMED THE CUSTOMER SERVICE OF A SPANISH HEALTH SME

Glucovibes is an example of good practice in healthcare in Spain. The company's entire business is based on creating appropriate nutritional plans aimed at lowering glucose levels. The company was founded in 2020 and has based a large part of its business on the application of digital technologies from the outset. However, that doesn't mean they haven't also used available funding programs to improve the company's overall business. When the company was founded, the owners received 45,000 euros from the Gipuzkoa Business Innovation Centre and the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa to initiate innovation processes in the healthcare sector.

The entire business process is based on a digital sensor (with a shelf life of 14 days) that users wear on the back of their hand and that reads their glucose level data using Near Field Communication (NFC) technology. Based on the data collected, Glucovibes creates nutrition plans and sends them to its users. The use of digital technologies has greatly simplified the entire process of communicating with customers remotely, eliminating the need to open separate branches in individual cities.

However, given the competition in the market, Glucovibes realized early on that setting up a system alone was not enough. Further plans were made to further automate the process by introducing Supply Chain Management (SCM) software, which would allow for better inventory control, predict supply and demand in the market and further reduce certain cost components. Glucovibes has recognized the need for continuous improvement and clearly stands out as an example of good practice in the healthcare industry.
