The EU labour market is going through a radical paradigm shift. Workers are joining in force a new movement that prioritizes other factors than financial stability to make them willing to keep their job: emotional and social fulfilment, upskilling and empowerment, work-life balance, company’s true commitment to social issues, opportunity to be one’s true self at work, remote working, are only few of the many considerations that are leading workers to change job and leave companies in the turmoil of high turnovers and job vacancies.
Evidences demonstrate that “Europeans are unhappier with their workplaces than anyone else in the world (…) only the 14% of people feel engaged at work”: bad leadership is the element that impact the most the satisfaction at work, and represents the dimension in which the attrition is most tangible. For instance,97% of managers from DE have a good reputation of themselves, but 69% of employees in DE think they have bad managers.
Specifically micro and small-medium companies (MSMEs) need to be supported and equipped with the right resources to tackle and address the phenomenon
NICE will develop, test, and valorise a curriculum for VET providers targeted at MSMEs to enhance, strengthen and improve employers’ capacities to:
- Strategizing new solutions to improve working condition and work-life balance
- Improving employees’ engagement
- Provide for continuity to hybrid/full remote work settings
- Helping employees in acquiring new transversal skills
NICE contributes so to:
Adapting VET to labour market needs, being the VET programme of the project:
- Aligned to economic cycles, evolving jobs and key competences
- Build-up from a skills intelligence effort
- Aimed at supporting providers in re-adapting their training offer to changing skills, digital transition, jobs and societies, private sectors’ dynamics
- Contributing to make the VET ecosystem more relevant to current & future needs of the economy and society, responsive and reactive to job market dynamics and adapted to private sector needs
- Provider of resources and services to companies
